Safety Training in Texas: OSHA Courses & Providers (2026)
Find OSHA 10, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, and other safety training in Texas. Online and in-person options, providers, and what Texas workers need
Texas operates under Federal OSHA, so there are no state-specific training mandates beyond what federal regulations require. But Texas has the largest construction market in the country, a massive oil and gas sector, and high demand for trained safety professionals. Getting the right certifications opens doors fast.
What Training Do You Need in Texas?
Texas doesn’t require OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 cards by state law. But employers do. Nearly every general contractor on commercial and industrial projects in Texas requires them.
Most common certifications for Texas workers:
- OSHA 10 Construction. Required on most job sites ($25-$89 online)
- OSHA 30 Construction. Required for supervisors ($89-$189 online)
- HAZWOPER 40-Hour. Essential for oil and gas, refinery, and environmental work
- HAZWOPER 8-Hour Refresher. Annual requirement for HAZWOPER holders
- Forklift Certification. Required for all powered industrial truck operators
- Confined Space. Common in petrochemical and refinery work
- Fall Protection. Required for construction workers at heights
- H2S Awareness Required for most oil and gas field positions in Texas
Oil and gas specific: If you’re working in the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Shale, or Gulf Coast refineries, expect to need HAZWOPER, H2S awareness, Process Safety Management (PSM) training, and often SafeLand or SafeGulf orientation.

How to Choose
Go online if: You need OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or HAZWOPER and want to save money and time. Works well for construction, manufacturing, and warehouse workers.
Go in-person if: You need hands-on certifications (forklift, confined space, fall protection), oil and gas specific training (H2S with live monitor), or your employer requires classroom training.
Ask your employer. Many Texas employers, especially in oil and gas, have preferred training providers and may cover the cost.
