Safety Training in Washington: OSHA Courses & Providers (2026)
Find OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and other safety training in Washington state. L&I DOSH requirements, online and in-person options, and provider list
Washington runs its own OSHA program (DOSH/WISHA) through the Department of Labor and Industries. The state has stricter training requirements than federal OSHA in several areas, including safety committees, fall protection, and first aid.
Washington-Specific Training Requirements
Washington has training mandates that don’t exist in many other states:
- Safety committee training Workplaces with 11+ employees must have a safety committee. Members need training on committee duties and hazard identification.
- First aid At least one trained first aid provider must be present per shift at construction sites
- Accident Prevention Program (APP) Every employer must have a written APP and train employees on it
- Heat illness prevention Mandatory training for outdoor workers and supervisors
- Wildfire smoke protection Training required when AQI reaches specified levels
Common Certifications
- OSHA 10 Construction. Widely expected by Washington contractors ($25-$89 online)
- OSHA 30 Construction. Expected for supervisors ($89-$189 online)
- Fall Protection. Washington has additional requirements beyond federal OSHA
- Confined Space. Common in maritime, utility, and manufacturing
- Forklift Certification. High demand in Amazon warehouses and logistics
- First Aid / CPR / AED. Required on construction sites
Aerospace workers: Boeing and other aerospace employers require specialized training on composite materials, confined space, fall protection, and chemical handling.
Online Training
Authorized providers: OSHA Education Center, 360Training, ClickSafety, CareerSafe, National Safety Council.
Note: OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 earned online satisfy employer requirements in Washington. But some Washington-specific training (safety committee, APP development, heat illness) may need to come from providers familiar with Washington’s rules.
